Dr Phoebe Star
Dr Phoebe Star is a specialist dermatologist and Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatology.
Dr Star graduated in Medicine and Surgery from The University of Melbourne. She spent three years as an Anaesthetic and ICU Registrar, buiding broad medical and critical care experience before undertaking a two-year Research Fellow position at The Melanoma Institute Australia in dermatology, high risk melanoma and Confocal Microscopy. She was awarded the Master of Philosophy (Medicine) at the University of Sydney for her thesis on confocal microscopy descriptors of lentigo maligna margins and risk factors for recurrence.
Dr Star did her four year specialty training in dermatology at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide; Liverpool Hospital, Sydney; The Canberra Hospital; St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney; The Skin Hospital Darlinghurst, SouthDerm and private practices in Canberra, Batemans Bay and Young.
Before studying medicine, she gained a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Physiology and Art History/Classical Civilisation, earning prizes for distinction and an academic scholarship to complete a one year exchange at the University of California, Irvine, USA.
Dr Star enjoys teaching, research and writing. She has published in numerous peer reviewed journals, has presented at Australian and international conferences and is actively involved in ongoing research and publications.
Dr Star has an interest in all areas of dermatology but in particular, medical dermatology; early diagnosis and management of skin cancer and melanoma; confocal microscopy; cutaneous eruptions secondary to cancer therapies; eczema/psoriasis/biologics and acne/rosacea.
