Excisions
Excisions are one of the more common techniques used to remove lesions for medical or cosmetic reasons. This technique can be used to perform a range of procedures from removal of a small lesion to larger, more complicated lesions that may extend through several layers of the skin. Excisions are performed in our state of the art surgical theatres under local anaesthetic. Stitches (also known as sutures) are used to close an excision site. These may be located externally, on the surface of the skin and are sometimes also placed internally. Internal sutures do not require removal as they are designed to dissolve over time. External sutures will be removed at a follow up appointment. Your team will advise you when this should be attended.
